Israeli aviation strikes Hezbollah tunnel between Syria and Lebanon

Israeli military aircraft targeted facilities of the Islamist group Hezbollah and a militant underground tunnel crossing from Syria into Lebanon. The tunnel is used by terrorists for weapons smuggling, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
The Israeli Ministry of Defense stated that the airstrike was carried out on Hezbollah’s underground logistical route based on intelligence information.
It was noted that militants had been using the tunnel between Syria and Lebanon for weapons smuggling in the Bekaa region (Lebanon).
The Israeli side added that Israeli forces had previously targeted the underground facility.
"The IDF is determined to prevent the restoration and use of this tunnel," the Israeli Ministry of Defense emphasized.
Additionally, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) struck several Hezbollah targets in Lebanon, including ammunition depots and rocket launchers, which posed a direct threat.
"The targets struck were a violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon," the IDF explained.
The Israeli side also added that the military continues to take action to eliminate any threat to the State of Israel under ceasefire agreements.
"The IDF remains committed to the understandings and will operate to prevent any attempt of rearmament or rebuild of force by the Hezbollah terrorist organization," the Israeli Ministry of Defense stated.
Fighting between Israel and Hezbollah, and a ceasefire between the parties
Hezbollah, a Lebanese Shiite militant group and political party advocating for the establishment of an Islamic state in Lebanon, has declared its goal to militarily respond to the occupation of part of Lebanon by Israel.
Israel and Lebanon often accuse each other of attacks on their territories. Following the beginning of the IDF's ground operation against Hamas in the Gaza Strip, Hezbollah militants have increasingly targeted Israeli territory. In turn, the IDF claims to have struck terrorist targets in Lebanon.
On November 27, 2024, a ceasefire began between Israel and Hezbollah. Under the agreement, Israel is required to withdraw its forces from Lebanese territory within 60 days. At the same time, Hezbollah militants are also expected to leave southern Lebanon. The US developed the agreement.
On the same day, it was revealed that Israel had attacked a Hezbollah underground factory where militants were manufacturing rockets before the ceasefire commenced.
RBC-Ukraine, in a separate article, reported on whether the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah had ended with the ceasefire and what would happen next.
