Israeli army eliminates terrorist who ordered killing of hostages in Gaza Strip
The Israeli army carried out an operation in which a terrorist responsible for ordering the killing of Israeli hostages in a shelter in Re'im, Gaza, in September was killed, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
Israeli army spokesperson Daniel Hagari confirmed that the terrorist was killed during a military operation.
"We eliminated the Nukhba terrorist who led the massacre at the Re'im bomb shelter. Ironically and horrifyingly, this terrorist also worked for UNRWA. We will continue to search for and reach all those involved in the brutal massacre," Hagari stated.
He also mentioned that Hamas terrorists are still holding 101 people hostage in Gaza, and the military is committed to bringing them home.
Nukhba refers to the special unit of the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, a term used by Israelis to describe the group's militants.
Killing of hostages by Hamas terrorists
On October 7, 2023, militants from the Palestinian group Hamas invaded Israel from the Gaza Strip. During the incursion, they killed 1,200 Israelis and foreigners and took approximately 250 people hostage, whom they transported and continue to hold in Gaza.
In early September of this year, Israeli forces conducted an operation in the tunnels beneath the city of Rafah in Gaza. Hamas terrorists killed six hostages as IDF soldiers approached their location.
This incident sparked protests in Israel, with citizens accusing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of failing to negotiate with Hamas for the release of other hostages held in Gaza.
