Israel reacts to Hamas delaying hostage lists transfer
Israel has not yet received the list of names of the hostages to be released by HAMAS. This may delay tomorrow's implementation of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and the release of hostages, The Times of Israel reports.
"We will not move forward with the outline until we receive a list of the hostages to be freed, as agreed. Israel will not tolerate violations of the agreement. The sole responsibility lies with Hamas," the Prime Minister's Office said in a statement.
The agreement states that Hamas is obliged to provide the names of the hostages no later than 24 hours before their release, which was to take place tomorrow at 4 p.m. local time.
The Times of Israel, citing Kan, wrote that Israel was to receive the names of the first three hostages to be released this afternoon. According to preliminary information, the first three hostages to be released are to be civilian women, not the five female soldiers from the list of 33 hostages.
On Thursday in Doha, the negotiating parties signed an agreement on a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas and the release of hostages. Today, January 18, the Israeli government approved the document, which is expected to enter into force tomorrow.
