Israel may take measures to remove Hezbollah from Lebanese border
Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz warned Hezbollah that the IDF (Israeli Defense Forces) would take measures to move the militants away from the border with Lebanon if the attacks do not stop, according to BBC.
Gantz said that the Israeli army would intervene if Hezbollah militants did not stop striking northern Israel. He noted that the situation on his country's northern border requires changes.
"The stopwatch for a diplomatic solution is running out. If the world and the Lebanese government don't act in order to prevent the firing on Israel's northern residents, and to distance Hezbollah from the border, the IDF will do it," the Israeli Defense Minister added.
Meanwhile, the head of the IDF, Herzi Halevi, said that the troops are in "very high readiness" for further fighting in the north.
The war between Israel and Hamas and Hezbollah's attacks
On October 7, Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip attacked the south and center of Israel. Thousands of rockets and shells were fired across the country. Since then, tensions with Hezbollah have been rising. We are talking about daily clashes between the parties along the Israeli-Lebanese border.
In particular, Iranian-backed Hezbollah militants regularly fire missiles at Israeli outposts and forces on the border.
On Wednesday, December 20, Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) fighters attacked Hezbollah's operational command center in Lebanon.
Earlier, Israeli air defense forces intercepted one of the planes that entered the country from Lebanon. The other two crashed.
