Israel eliminates another Hamas commander
Israel conducted an air strike in the West Bank of Jordan. As a result, a Hamas commander and four Islamic Jihad fighters were killed, reports Reuters.
The Israeli military said that the first airstrike hit a vehicle in a town near Tulkarm. Hamas media reported that the vehicle carrying the fighters was shot down and that one of the dead was the Tulkarm brigade commander.
The Israeli military said that a few hours later, a second strike targeted another group of armed militants who fired on troops during what they called a counter-terrorism operation in Tulkarm.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health reported that five people were killed in the first strike, and WAFA reported that four people were killed in the second.
Assassination of Hamas leader
In late July, it was reported that Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was assassinated in Tehran.
As it later became known, a bomb was planted in the building where Haniyeh was staying. The Telegraph stated that the Hamas leader's residence was mined by Iranian security forces recruited by the Mossad.
Iran threatened to retaliate for Haniyeh's assassination.
More than 20 people were arrested in Iran in connection with the assassination of the Hamas leader.
