Israel announces 'next phase' of ground operation in Gaza
The Israel Defense Forces have completed the capture of the western part of the city of Gaza, says the Israeli Minister of Defense of Israel, Yoav Gallant.
According to him, the IDF made "significant findings" at the Shifa hospital, transitioning to the "next phase" of the ground operation. He did not specify what exactly was found at the hospital.
"The operation continues and it is carried out in a precise, selective, but very, very determined manner," said Gallant.
According to him, the IDF has completed the seizure of the western part of the city of Gaza and cleared this area of militants and Hamas assets.
"The next phase has begun," added the minister.
Israel's ground operation
Israel has been conducting its ground operation in the Gaza Strip for several weeks now, primarily focusing on the northern part of the Palestinian enclave.
During this time, the Israel Defense Forces have managed to gain control over Gaza, the largest city in the Gaza Strip. They have also seized government buildings in the city, including the parliament.
