ISIS claims responsibility for knife attack in Germany - Reuters
On Saturday, August 24, the Islamic State group claimed responsibility for a knife attack in Solingen, Germany, which killed three people and injured eight others, reports Reuters.
The militant group issued a statement on the matter, saying that the attack was carried out by one of its members “in revenge for Muslims in Palestine and everywhere.”
At the same time, Reuters noted that the group did not provide any evidence and it is not yet clear how close the relationship between the Islamic State and the attacker was.
Police are known to be searching for the attacker. They said that they had detained a 15-year-old teenager and were investigating whether this person was related to the attacker.
At the same time, Markus Kaspers, an employee of the Düsseldorf prosecutor's office, said that the authorities are considering the attack as a possible terrorist act, as there were no other motives, and the victims did not appear to be related.
