Is there threat to aid to Ukraine amid European elections: EU Ambassador's assessment
European countries are likely to continue to assist Ukraine despite the elections in more than 15 countries and the European Parliament, according to the European Union Ambassador to Ukraine Katarina Mathernova.
She emphasized that during elections, radical parties that generally do not support Ukraine, always have a chance to win, but centrists are likely to hold on.
“The support for Ukraine among European politicians is very stable now, and we see the same in opinion polls. I am convinced that it will be the same after the elections,” the Ambassador added.
Elections in Europe
In 2024, presidential elections in Europe will be held in Lithuania, North Macedonia, Iceland, Finland, Slovakia, Romania, and Moldova.
At the same time, parliamentary elections will be held in Lithuania, North Macedonia, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Romania, Croatia, San Marino, Belgium, and Austria.
Elections will also be held in the United States, which is Ukraine's main ally in the war against Russia. Donald Trump will represent the Republicans, while Joe Biden will represent the Democrats.
While Biden's position on helping Ukraine is clear, Trump's is more complicated. Read more about this in the material by RBC-Ukraine.
