Ireland announces 5 mln euros assistance to Ukraine
Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar announced that Ireland will allocate 5 million euros of humanitarian aid to Ukraine, distributed between the Red Cross and the UN fund.
"This morning, I came face to face with the horror inflicted by Russia's forces on the people of Ukraine. I gave a commitment to President Zelenskyy, and to the people of Ukraine, that we will continue to offer our practical as well as our political backing," the statement said.
Varadkar promised President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the people of Ukraine that Ireland will continue to provide both practical and political support.
"We are giving a further €5 million in humanitarian aid to Ukraine – €3 million to be spent in Ukraine by the Red Cross for its vital work, and €2 million to the UN fund," said the Irish Prime Minister.
Irish Prime Minister's visit to Ukraine
Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar arrived in Ukraine for an official visit today. He has already visited the city of Bucha, which suffered from Russian crimes, and met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
During the visit to Bucha, Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin informed the Irish Prime Minister about Russian crimes and mass killings of civilians during the city's occupation.
