In Baghdad, on the night of March 18, the US Embassy became the target of an Iranian attack using drones and missiles, according to Reuters.

According to security sources, rockets were fired at the diplomatic complex in the so-called Green Zone, along with a drone strike. As a result of the attack, sirens went off, and explosions were heard near the complex.

Footage released by media outlets shows a large fire at the site of the incident.

In addition, at least three explosive drones attacked another US diplomatic facility near Baghdad International Airport. In response, C-RAM air defense systems, which intercept such threats, were activated.

So far, there is no information about casualties or injuries. No significant damage has been reported either.

This is already a repeat Iranian attack on the US Embassy in Baghdad. The previous one occurred very recently - on March 14.

Escalation in the Middle East

Such attacks are happening against the backdrop of a sharp escalation in the Middle East. As mentioned earlier, four days ago, Tehran struck the US Embassy in Baghdad.

Iranian proxy groups have recently intensified attacks on US targets in the region in response to US and allied military actions.

Among the numerous attacks by both sides, American strikes stand out. For example, Washington recently targeted Kharg Island, where a significant portion of Iran’s military assets are concentrated.

Moreover, US President Donald Trump threatened to strike Kharg again despite Tehran’s warnings of retaliation.
