US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that Iran will continue to lose its tankers in retaliation for attacking American warships. He emphasized that Washington remains committed to economically "choking" Tehran, according to a DRM News broadcast.

Rubio noted that Washington does not believe any country is providing Iran with anything that changes the dynamics or parameters observed by the US.

At the same time, he pointed out that Tehran pays for its attacks on US vessels with its own tankers.

Rubio said that they kept firing at their warships and that when they did, they paid with their tankers. He added that they did not hit their ships but lost five tankers. He said that the previous night, they had lost another five - four had been damaged and one had been sunk.

He also stressed that Iran will continue to pay for such actions.

He concluded that they would continue to choke them economically.

What else is important to know

Yesterday, the IRGC claimed that on the night of September 9, Iran used ballistic missiles against a US military base in Jordan. At the same time, Tehran announced an attack on 10 ships in the area of the Strait of Hormuz.

In response, US Central Command reported that five Iranian tankers were destroyed. It was also noted that the American warship successfully evaded the attacks, and no military personnel were injured.

According to Reuters, six months into the conflict, Iran is facing unprecedented US economic pressure. Sources say this could force Tehran to make concessions, including on keeping the Strait of Hormuz open.
