iOS 27 makes iPhone faster and smarter: 14 new useful features

At this year’s WWDC conference, Apple officially unveiled the iOS 27 operating system. The main focus of the update is the development of the Apple Intelligence platform, integration of Google Gemini models, a complete overhaul of the Siri voice assistant, and the introduction of smart tools for photo editing, according to BGR.
The biggest technological shift was the introduction of next-generation Siri, officially named Siri AI. The AI assistant is now based on custom Google Gemini models, while all processing of personal data is handled using Private Cloud Compute technology, ensuring privacy.
Main changes in the assistant’s operation
Personal context handling: Siri AI has learned to analyze information inside apps (Messages, Calendar, Mail, Music). Now you can ask it to find “that song a friend sent a few weeks ago,” and it will independently locate the link in chats.
Separate app: the assistant received an interface similar to ChatGPT. Users will be able to view the history of previous conversations and flexibly adjust the assistant’s voice or communication style.
Accuracy and mobility: visually, Siri is now integrated into Dynamic Island, and thanks to new models, the accuracy of dictation and understanding of natural speech has significantly improved.
Smart photo editing and Liquid Glass interface improvements
The Photos app has received major updates, with three new AI tools for image processing integrated:
Clean Up: This tool has become significantly more accurate at detecting and removing unwanted objects or people from the background without distorting the overall image.
Expand: allows you to expand the background around a photo, for example, easily turning a vertical portrait into a horizontal landscape.
Spatial Reframing: using spatial computing technology, this feature allows slight adjustment of the shooting angle, centering the image, and reconstructing missing background details using the Expand function.
In addition, Apple responded to user complaints about the Liquid Glass interface, which debuted last year. In iOS 27, a special slider has been added in settings, allowing users to adjust transparency and blur levels from fully transparent to darkened. App icons have become clearer and gained additional layers of detail.
System performance and smart routine automation
Developers optimized the CPU scheduler, which will positively affect even older iPhone models. As a result, apps launch 30% faster, newly taken photos appear in the gallery 70% faster, and AirDrop file transfer speed has increased by 80%.
Among other useful technological solutions, it is worth highlighting:
Smart traffic management: if you are sending a series of large media files under poor connection conditions, the system automatically prioritizes text messages so that the conversation is not interrupted.
Voice shortcuts: creating complex commands in the Shortcuts app is now possible using plain language. You can simply say: “Send a notification to my relatives every time I leave work,” and AI will set up the entire action chain automatically.
Automatic password updates: the Passwords app can now automatically log into websites and change your passwords if the system detects that they have been compromised in data leaks.
Smart browsing in Safari: the browser has received a feature that sorts open pages by topic. Users can also ask Siri to monitor a specific website — for example, the system will notify you if concert tickets go on sale or hotel booking prices change.
