Russian troops near Pokrovsk are trying to infiltrate in small groups. But they are avoiding urban battles, according to Viktor Trehubov, a spokesperson for the Khortytsia Operational and Strategic Group of Troops.

Russian forces are currently trying to interrupt the communications and logistics chains of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

“In order to do this, they are trying to attack in small groups in the settlements south of Pokrovsk, using the principle of a small group gaining a foothold and then the next one coming. They are advancing by infiltration,” explained the spokesman.

Russians are trying to bypass Pokrovsk and avoid urban fighting, he added.

“Meanwhile, Ukrainian troops are trying to prevent them from doing so and are striking at them with drones and precision weapons, to prevent them from fulfilling this plan,” he said.

Situation at the front

Pokrovsk is currently one of the defense points for Ukrainian troops in the Donetsk region. This area is one of the most difficult on the frontline. Heavy fighting is also taking place in the neighboring areas of Kurakhove, Toretsk, and Kramatorsk.

Earlier, the Khortytsia military unit reported that the enemy had concentrated about 150 thousand soldiers in the Pokrovsk, Kurakhove, and Vremivka directions. They have about 70 thousand soldiers in the Pokrovsk area.

The defense forces explained that the Russians were trying to bypass Pokrovsk and avoid direct city battles.
