India summons Ukraine's ambassador over Zelenskyy's criticism of Modi's visit to Moscow
India summoned the Ukrainian ambassador over President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's recent criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's meeting with dictator Vladimir Putin, according to The Economic Times.
India's Ministry of External Affairs summoned the ambassador yesterday, July 15.
"This clearly indicates Delhi's dissatisfaction with Ukraine's stance on Zelenskyy's comments directed at the Prime Minister," the report says.
It has also been revealed that Delhi postponed a joint working group meeting on cultural issues with Ukraine amid the incident.
Backstory
Last week, the President of Ukraine criticized Modi's meeting with the Russian dictator, calling it a "devastating blow to peace efforts."
"It is a huge disappointment... to see the leader of the world's largest democracy hug the world's most bloody criminal in Moscow," Zelenskyy added.
Modi's visit to Russia
The Prime Minister of India visited Moscow on July 9. According to Reuters, the head of government planned to secure the swift release of Indians from the Russian army during negotiations. He also made a statement regarding the war on Ukrainian territory.
