In Spain, raging crowd throws mud at monarchs in epicenter of flood
Spain recently experienced a deadly flood. King Philip VI of Spain, his wife, and officials arrived in one of the worst-hit cities, only to be thrown mud and booed, reports El Diario.
According to the newspaper, officials, including the country's Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, accompanied the monarch, who tried to talk to locals. However, a crowd of angry survivors of the deadly flood, which killed at least 214 people, threw mud at the officials, shouting “murderers,” “get out,” “we are already dead,” and “Pedro Sánchez, you son of a bitch.” To prevent the officials from getting dirty, the police surrounding them opened their umbrellas. However, this did not help much.

Sánchez and the head of the Valencian government, Carlos Mazón, then left the procession, and the royal couple, in turn, tried to resolve the escalating situation by talking to the youth who were rebuking them. The king remained calm and tried to calm the crowd of citizens who were shouting at him.
While listening to the complaints of the residents, Queen Letizia was also covered in mud.
Residents expressed dissatisfaction that the authorities arrived for an official visit only six days after the tragedy and criticized officials for the delay in providing assistance to the victims. They also wondered why no measures had been taken to prevent the disaster.
After talking for a few minutes with the outraged residents of Paiporta, the King and Queen left the area by car.
In October, a powerful flood also occurred in France, causing significant damage. Rescue services and fire brigades conducted about 2,300 operations in the affected areas.
