Important for military: Over 25 Russian strategic facilities attacked
In the first month of 2025, more than 25 strategic facilities were attacked in the territory of Russia. They are important for its military sector, Head of the Center for Countering Disinformation Andriy Kovalenko informs.
"In January, more than 25 strategic facilities, including oil depots, refineries, and factories, which are important for the defense sector, were attacked in the territory of Russia," he said.
Earlier it became known that after the strikes, the SIBUR-Kstovo oil refinery near Nizhny Novgorod suspended operations. It is temporarily not shipping products, and all major installations have been put on standby.
According to aviation expert Kostiantyn Kryvolap, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are pushing the oil and gas industry closer to collapse by striking enemy oil facilities. He also believes that after the strikes on the Ryazan and Volgograd refineries and a plant near Nizhny Novgorod, Russia may face a shortage of aviation kerosene.
Ukraine's strikes on Russian refineries
According to BBC estimates, in 2024 alone, Ukrainian forces attacked Russian refineries and fuel depots at least 81 times. In the fall, the number of attacks decreased, but towards the end of the year, they increased again and became regular in January 2025.
From a military point of view, the destruction of Russian oil facilities is necessary to undermine Russia's ability to wage an aggressive war against Ukraine. These strategic enterprises play a key role in providing the Russian army with fuel.
