Mass protests against President Donald Trump took place in the US. Thousands of people took to the streets demanding impeachment and the protection of democracy, according to Politico and Associated Press.

On Saturday, thousands of Americans took part in protests against the policies of Donald Trump’s administration, accusing it of undermining democratic principles.

The protests spread to major cities, including New York, Washington, San Francisco, Portland, Boston, as well as smaller communities across the country.

In New York, demonstrators marched from the Public Library to Central Park, passing by Trump Tower and chanting slogans against immigration policy and deportations.

In San Francisco, activists on Ocean Beach formed the phrase "Impeach & Remove" with their bodies, accompanied by an inverted US flag.

The protests drew particular attention in Massachusetts, where participants combined commemorations of the 250th anniversary of the start of the US War of Independence with criticism of the current administration.

One of the participants stated that Americans once again have to “fight for freedom” in their own country.

Protests also took place near Tesla dealerships, where activists accused Elon Musk of cooperating with Trump and working to reduce the role of the federal government.

Organizers said they were protesting against attacks on civil rights, efforts to shut down public institutions, cuts to social programs, and the expansion of executive power.

In Anchorage, a colonial reenactor dressed in traditional colonial attire held a sign reading “No kings,” while a person next to him raised a cardboard placard that read, among other things, “The feudal era is over.”

In Washington, protesters gathered outside the White House, and in Columbia, South Carolina, hundreds of people marched with signs defending social security and democratic values.

Anti-Trump protests in Europe

Protests also took place on April 5 in the United Kingdom, Canada, Mexico, France, Germany, and other countries. Participants voiced opposition to Trump’s influence on democratic processes and civil rights.

In Berlin, demonstrators protesting in front of a Tesla exhibition hall held signs urging fellow Americans living in Germany to protest for an “end to the chaos” back home.

In the French capital, Paris, around 200 people — mostly Americans — gathered at Place de la République to protest against Trump. Some gave speeches condemning the president, while others waved signs reading “Resist the tyrant,” “Rule of law,” “Feminists for freedom, not fascism,” and “Save democracy.”
