'I would do exactly as I did': Trump says he has no regrets over war with Iran

US President Donald Trump said he does not regret starting the war against Iran, despite the conflict's potential impact on the US midterm elections in November, according to his interview with Fox News.
"I don't believe in the word regret. You can always question yourself a little bit. And a few people have asked me if I had to do it again, I would do exactly as I did,” Trump said.
He also rejected suggestions that some of his supporters were upset and demoralized by the war.
"I don't think they are demoralized. I think they are very proud of the fact that I am not allowing Iran to have nuclear weapons," the US president said.
In addition, Trump once again reaffirmed his view that the war could end immediately after the US congressional midterm elections.
"End right after the election," the head of the White House said.
Trump made similar statements on Wednesday, claiming that Iran is trying to influence the elections that will determine whether the Republican Party retains control of Congress.

A day earlier, the WSJ reported that White House officials had discussed with Trump that the war with Iran could last until the end of his presidential term. They explained that Tehran could continue to resist despite pressure from Washington.
According to the NYT, in the spring and summer, US Vice President JD Vance held a phone call with American commanders to get a realistic assessment of the war with Iran. They, in turn, responded that stocks of critical munitions had fallen to their lowest level in history.
