Hungarian PM Orbán reveals purpose of his visit to Kyiv
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán's visit to Kyiv is related to Budapest's presidency in the EU Council, according to his post on Facebook.
"The purpose of the Hungarian presidency is to contribute to solving the problems the European Union faces. That is why my first trip was to Kyiv," he said.
Orbán's visit
Today, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán arrived in Kyiv for the first time since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion. He has not visited the Ukrainian capital for more than 10 years.
Orban is expected to meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The parties will discuss the possibility of establishing peace and current issues of Hungarian-Ukrainian bilateral relations.
The Hungarian prime minister, known for his pro-Russian views, promised in an interview on the eve of his visit to take the "first step" toward establishing peace in Ukraine.
