Russian forces have managed to enter Huliaipole in the Zaporizhzhia region. However, Ukrainian defenders are still in the city and continue to hold their positions, states Vladyslav Voloshyn, Southern Defense Forces spokesperson, during the national telethon live broadcast.

"The enemy has entered Huliaipole. They are advancing there, trying to push back the Defense Forces, and attempting to deploy reinforcement groups, pulling units from other parts of the contact line," Voloshyn said.

He noted that Ukraine has divided Huliaipole into sectors, each of which has positions held by Defense Forces soldiers. Several Ukrainian units are currently in the city.

The Southern Defense Forces spokesperson emphasized that the Russian troops have not succeeded in driving Ukrainian soldiers out of the city. Search-and-strike operations are being carried out to eliminate the Russian forces.

"Simply put, Huliaipole is a large gray zone where fighting is ongoing," he said.

Also, according to Voloshyn, before entering Huliaipole, the Russian forces attacked the city with guided aerial bombs for about two weeks.

"The city is practically destroyed. Intense fighting is ongoing — sometimes our troops advance and clear areas, sometimes theirs do. The enemy outnumbers our forces several times over," he said.

At the same time, according to Ukrainian intelligence, the Russian troops are even building underground tunnels to move safely between positions.

Breach of the Ukrainian Armed Forces HQ in Huliaipole

Earlier, it became known that Russian forces had infiltrated and captured a command-and-observation post in Huliaipole.

According to Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, the 102nd Territorial Defense Brigade withdrew from its positions and did not destroy all equipment in the command post that held any value.
