People often refuse to eat bread because of the risk of gaining weight. However, this can happen due to improper consumption of the product. Therefore, it's important to know how to choose healthy bread, according to Ukrainian nutritionist Natalia Samoilenko.

How to choose healthy bread at the store

Avoid white bread and those made from processed grains.

Opt for whole grain options or bread made from sprouted grains. Great options also include oat, bran, and flaxseed bread.

The expert added that if you have been diagnosed with gluten intolerance, choose gluten-free bread.

Also, pay attention to the amount of sweeteners and choose bread with the least amount.

The best choice is seed bread since it's rich in fiber.

"There is nothing in ordinary white bread, besides flour. There is no outer shell - fiber, which contains many vitamins," noted Natalia Samoilenko.

It's worth consuming no more than 1-2 slices of bread per day, especially in the first half of the day.

Also, when choosing bread, pay attention to the following indicators: the type of flour, the amount of various additives, salt, and sugar.

It's better to choose bread made from whole grain or bran, as they contain bran rich in fiber, vitamins B, E, iron, zinc, and selenium. It's beneficial for overall health and won't harm your figure.

What bread is good for the intestines and stomach

The most beneficial bread for the gastrointestinal tract is rye bread. It's lower in calories than white bread and contains a lot of fiber.

Fiber helps normalize the digestion process, improves intestinal peristalsis, and stomach function. Moreover, it is slowly absorbed by the body, gradually providing the necessary energy. Amino acids contained in dark bread also contribute to digestion normalization.

As part of a healthy diet, you can include whole grain, rye, and bran bread. They won't lead to unnecessary weight gain, provide the body with vitamins, minerals, and micronutrients, and also supply the necessary energy.
