How to bake Gingerbread House at home: Photos and video
The feast of Saint Nicholas is approaching, so you can create a real New Year's fairy tale in the kitchen with your children. You can make your own gingerbread house.

What you will need
First, you need to prepare the following ingredients in advance:
- Sugar: 100 g
- Honey: 200 g
- Unsalted butter: 100 g
- Baking soda: 10 g
- Fresh ginger root: 20 g
- Ground cinnamon: to taste
- Ground cardamom: to taste
- Ground nutmeg: to taste
- Ground coriander: to taste
- Chicken eggs: 1
- Chicken egg yolk: 1
- Wheat flour: 40 g
For the glaze, you will need the following ingredients:
- Egg white: 1
- Powdered sugar: 20 g
- Potato starch: 1 tsp
- Lemon juice: to taste
- Water: 1 tsp
The video recipe specifies the following dimensions for the gingerbread house pieces:
- Width of the facade: 10 cm
- Height to the roof: 6 cm
- Roofline: 9 cm
- Height of side walls: 6 cm
- Width of side walls: 9 cm
- Width of the roof: 12.5 cm
- Height of the roof: 10 cm

Creating templates:
- Start by making templates for the house from paper.

Preparing the dough:
- Combine sugar, honey, grated fresh ginger, and spices to prepare the dough.
- Heat the mixture in a double boiler, stirring thoroughly until uniform.
- Add heavy cream, bringing the temperature to approximately 70°C - ensuring the sugar dissolves.
- Mix in baking soda and 150 grams of flour. Pour in one egg and one yolk, stirring thoroughly.
- Add another 150 grams of flour, mix, and let the mixture cool.
- Sprinkle the remaining flour on the table and knead the dough until it becomes elastic and non-sticky. If it sticks to your hands, add up to 50 grams of flour.
- Leave the prepared dough in the refrigerator for 8 hours or longer.

Rolling and cutting:
- Roll out the dough and cut out templates for the house. Place them on a Teflon mat.

Baking:
- Bake at a temperature of 160°C until done.

Once the gingerbread has cooled, level the edges with a grater.
For the icing, thoroughly mix all the ingredients. Then, place it in a pastry bag and decorate the details of the house. Leave everything for a few hours to allow the icing to dry.

Next, you need to prepare the icing for gluing the gingerbread house. Add a little powdered sugar to the remaining icing to thicken it. It should be like a paste and fall off the spoon.
Apply the icing to the edges of the gingerbread pieces and connect the walls of the house. For added support, place a container of the appropriate size inside so that the pieces lean on it.
Once the joints have dried, add other decorative elements, doors, and the roof.
