Czech President and former NATO Military Committee Chairman Petr Pavel stated that the war between Ukraine and Russia may end when both sides come to the realization that continuing the conflict is no longer feasible, according to Novinky.cz.

Journalists asked Pavel how long the war between Russia and Ukraine might last.

"Until there is enough strength to convince both sides that military tools cannot achieve their political goals," responded the Czech leader.

According to Pavel, this realization could come either this year or in many years to come.

The President also does not rule out that the conflict could shift from an active phase to a frozen conflict lasting for years.

"I tend to believe that after a few years, both sides will realize that continuing is impossible, and negotiations will take place. Significant contributions to this must come from global powers, not just the USA but also China. They need to push both countries towards negotiations in political, economic, and diplomatic terms," he said.

Pavel also added that the European Union cannot achieve such a result alone, despite being a significant economic and political force. Therefore, a unified stance with the USA and other democratic countries is necessary.

Background

Ukraine insists on ending the war with Russia on fair terms, which includes restoring its territorial integrity.

To this end, Ukrainian officials have developed a ten-point peace formula. Based on this formula, Ukraine aims to create a peace plan and present it to Russia.
