How fashion trends take shape: Ukrainian designer highlights ballet flats and bags

How does mass-market copy luxury, and why do we see the same styles in stores? Famous Ukrainian designer Andre Tan explained where fashion trends come from and what to pay attention to understand what's in season.
Ballet flats with pointed toes
As we know, ballet flats have been trending for several seasons. This type of footwear returned, but no longer as a cute school-style option, but as part of the late 1990s-early 2000s aesthetic. Miu Miu made them super-pointed and stylish.
"If you see ballet flats with a pointed toe and a minimalist design in a store, it's definitely a nod to Miu Miu," said the stylist.

Woven bag
Bags like Jodie, Sardine, or simply woven designs are a trademark of Bottega. Their bags have become classics. Soft, voluminous, perfect for everyday wear.
"When you see something similar in mass-market with thick woven handles, that's inspired by Bottega," said Andre Tan.

Mini skirt in school style
Usually, it's a pleated mini skirt in a checkered pattern (like a school uniform), often with a high or low waist, sometimes with buckles, straps, or decorative elements. Colors are classic navy blue, burgundy, gray, beige, and green check.
"Mini skirts have been holding strong for the third year. Skirts with a low waist, often with straps and pleats. Miu Miu really made this a fashion fetish for the youth," emphasized the stylist.

Large straw hat
The straw hat is a trend, especially in summer 2025. Not only does it protect from the sun, but it also serves as a stylish accent in the outfit.
"Jacquemus straw hats are like for a photo shoot in Provence. The edges are wavy or huge, and the shape is slightly exaggerated," noted Tan.

Bag with a curved handle
Prada Cleo is one of the most recognizable bags in the summer of 2025. Elegant, it has a signature curved handle and soft sheen. It looks minimalist but expensive.
"In mass-market, they are actively copying it – pay attention to such silhouettes in black or white," emphasized Tan.

Woven bag with embroidery
Another trendy accessory for summer 2025 is the woven bag with contrasting embroidery.
"The Anagram bag from Loewe has become a truly cult bag this summer! You can recognize it by the simple font or embroidery. In stores, you'll find many 'Loewe-inspired' versions, especially made of natural materials and calm colors," concluded the designer.
