The professional boxing world was shaken by a horrific incident at a California tournament. Young American boxer Isis Sio was left fighting for her life after taking a series of powerful headshots. Doctors had to place her in a medically induced coma to prevent irreversible brain damage, according to ProBoxTV.
78 seconds to disaster
The bout in San Bernardino against undefeated Joselyn Camarillo (6-0) ended almost as soon as it began. At 78 seconds into the first round, Sio took a devastating combination of punches and collapsed to the canvas, suffering seizures right in the ring.
Due to the critical condition, she was urgently transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center. Fight organizers confirmed that Isis was placed in a medically induced coma to stabilize her condition.

Fatal mistake or tragic coincidence
Experts point to a shocking fact: just a few weeks earlier, on January 30, 19-year-old Isis Sio had already suffered a severe knockout in another fight. Such a short interval between serious head injuries is extremely dangerous, yet the athlete was once again cleared to fight.
“We are praying for Isis’s speedy recovery. Our thoughts are with her and her family during this incredibly difficult time,” reads the official statement from ProBoxTV.
Latest updates on the athlete’s condition
Fortunately, recent reports indicate progress. Sio has now emerged from the coma and regained consciousness. She has been removed from the ventilator, is breathing on her own, and has begun communicating with medical staff.
Despite the positive developments, Isis faces a long rehabilitation ahead. Any plans for her return to professional boxing are currently not under consideration.
