You can recreate the classic Twix flavor at home without making complicated dough or caramel from scratch. This simplified version of the dessert requires just four ingredients, with ready-made vanilla cookies serving as the base for the bars.
How do you make a homemade version of Twix with crunchy cookies, caramel, and chocolate?
What you’ll need
The recipe for this mini version of Twix was shared by the author of the food blog Dang That's Sweet. It uses just four main ingredients.
- Small vanilla cookies – 310 g
- Rolo caramel candies – 225 g
- Chocolate chips or chopped chocolate – 340 g
- Vegetable oil – 2 tablespoons
How to make homemade Twix
Preheat the oven to 150°C (300°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Arrange half of the cookies flat side up and place one caramel candy on each.
Put the baking sheet in the oven for about a minute and a half. The caramel should only soften. Immediately top each one with another cookie, pressing down gently. Then refrigerate the dessert for 10 minutes so the caramel firms up again.
Melt the chocolate together with the vegetable oil until smooth. Dip the cookie and caramel pieces into the chocolate, place them on parchment paper, and refrigerate until the coating sets.
According to the original recipe, the entire process, including chilling, takes about 40 minutes.
