Historic night in NBA: LeBron James breaks legendary career record

The forward of the Los Angeles Lakers, LeBron James, officially became the association leader in the number of field goals made. The historic event took place on March 6 in a regular-season game against the Denver Nuggets.

New peak of "King" James
In the match against the "Denver Nuggets", which ended with the Lakers’ defeat (113:120), the 39-year-old basketball player showed high efficiency.
During the game, LeBron managed to score 16 points and make 8 assists. The key moment of the match was his accurate shots: by making 7 out of 11 attempts, James brought his career total to 15,842 field goals made.
Thanks to this result, the "Lakers" leader surpassed the legendary Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who had held the top spot with 15,837 successful shots.
Statistical comparison of the leaders
Despite the change of leader in the ranking, the statistics indicate a different intensity in achieving the goal. LeBron needed significantly more attempts to set the record than his predecessor.
The top three leaders in the number of field goals made in NBA history:
- LeBron James – 15,842 field goals made (31,274 attempts, 51.6% accuracy);
- Kareem Abdul-Jabbar – 15,837 field goals made (28,307 attempts, 55.9% accuracy);
- Karl Malone – 13,528 field goals made.

In addition to James’s historic performance, the night in the NBA was remembered for eight other games.
