Head of Russian military drone company wounded in shooting attack

An unidentified attacker ambushed the head of a drone manufacturing company at the entrance of his apartment building in the Russian city of Tula and shot him three times, according to the Russian Telegram channel Mash.
What is known about the attack
According to the channel, an unidentified person set up an ambush at the entrance of a residential building.
When Andrey Cherezov, the head of the Russian Air Transport Laboratory company, arrived, the gunman shot him three times.
The man was taken to hospital with injuries. The attacker's identity has not yet been established, and police are searching for the suspect.
What the company does
The Russian Air Transport Laboratory develops and supplies unmanned systems for the Russian military.
The company recently secured contracts worth nearly 30 million rubles (approximately $380,000). It is set to receive the funds for supplying drone assembly kits and drone control systems.
Earlier, Russian authorities began replacing their appointed officials in temporarily occupied Melitopol in the spring of 2023.
According to Mayor Ivan Fedorov, the new appointees were selected because they were capable of carrying out "dirtier" work. Among them were people with questionable reputations, including individuals allegedly involved in corruption schemes.
Shortly afterward, an assassination attempt targeted the deputy head of the so-called regional department of internal affairs in occupied Melitopol.
An explosive device detonated near the gates of his home, and the man was taken to hospital with injuries.
