The HBO “Harry Potter” series is changing its cast. Gracie Cochrane, who plays Ginny Weasley, has left the project after the first season, according to Deadline.
What is known about the changes in the Harry Potter cast
In a statement, the young actress’s family cited unforeseen circumstances as the reason for the decision.
“Due to unforeseen circumstances, Gracie has made the challenging decision to step away from her role as Ginny Weasley in the HBO Harry Potter series after season one,” they said.
According to her family, being part of the “Harry Potter” world was a wonderful experience for the actress. She is grateful to the project’s team for the unforgettable experience.
“Gracie is very excited about the opportunities her future holds,” they added.
HBO supported the actress’s decision and thanked her for her work on the first season.

As is known, children for the series were selected from tens of thousands of applicants. Cochrane immediately attracted viewers’ attention, who called her casting one of the most successful.
The character Ginny holds a special place among “Potter” fans, particularly because of her future relationship with the story’s main protagonist. In the books, she is portrayed as a strong, determined, and talented witch.
Other members of the Weasley family in the series are also played by:
Molly — Katherine Parkinson
Fred — Tristan Garland
George — Gabriel Garland
Percy — Ruairi Spooner
Ron — Alastair Stout
