Agreement between Israel and Hamas
Recently, Israel and Hamas reached an agreement on a ceasefire and the release of hostages. According to various reports, the number of hostages held by the terrorists ranges from 94 to 97.
It is expected that the hostages will be released in stages. During the first phase, more than 30 individuals, including children, women, and the elderly, are to be freed.
The first operation to release hostages between Israel and Hamas is scheduled for January 19, during which three civilian women are expected to be freed. However, Hamas violated earlier agreements by not providing the Israeli authorities with the list of names in advance, as it was supposed to do 24 hours before the deal’s implementation (by 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 19).
This led to a statement from IDF spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, who declared that Israel would continue strikes on the Gaza Strip. According to media reports, Israeli fighter jets have already carried out a wave of airstrikes on Gaza on January 19.
