In the US, a high-profile trial is gaining momentum against famous rapper and producer Sean Combs (P. Diddy). He is accused of serious crimes: sexual exploitation, human trafficking, forced prostitution, and involvement in an organized criminal group. Although the trial is not yet over, the first results have already emerged.

Jury delivered partial verdict

At the July 1 hearing, the jury informed Judge Arun Subramanian that they reached a consensus on part of the charges.

Specifically, they made determinations on the counts related to human trafficking involving force, fraud, or coercion, as well as the transportation of women for sexual exploitation.

These episodes are based on the testimony of P. Diddy's ex-girlfriend, singer Cassie Ventura, and another woman testifying under the pseudonym "Jane."

However, on the most serious charge, participation in a criminal organization, the jury has not yet been able to reach an agreement.

In a note to the court, they wrote that there are "jurors with firmly held views on both sides."

P. Diddy's reaction

According to eyewitnesses, Combs appeared extremely tense when he heard the partial verdict.

His lawyers quickly held consultations and decided not to accept this course of events.

As a result, Judge Subramanian sent the jury back for further deliberations.

Later, the jurors reported they were concluding their work for the day and were dismissed until the following morning. The judge urged them to “keep an open mind.”

What happens next

If P. Diddy is found guilty under the racketeering charge, he could face a life sentence. The proceedings are scheduled to resume on Wednesday.

What partial verdict is

This occurs when the jury agrees on only some of the charges.

In Combs's case, they have already decided on the counts of human trafficking and sexual exploitation, but have not yet decided on the organized crime charge.

Their exact verdict, guilty or not, has not been disclosed.

Background

The trial of Sean Combs began in May 2025. He was arrested in New York on suspicion of involvement in sex trafficking, criminal conspiracies, and a series of violent acts.

According to investigators, for 16 years, he allegedly organized so-called "freak-off parties", elite events for the sexual exploitation of women.

At the time of the trial, the artist is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Centre in Brooklyn.

If P. Diddy is convicted, he faces not only a life sentence but also a minimum of 15 years in prison.
