Girkin sent to Moscow's Detention Center: he faces up to 5 years in prison
Today a Russian court ordered the pretrial detention of the notorious terrorist Igor Girkin. He faces up to 5 years in prison, as Meduza reports.
The Moscow City Court has ruled to keep Igor Girkin in custody until September 18.
The case against him is related to his alleged involvement in provoking extremism on the internet.
Under Russian law, he could face up to five years of imprisonment.
Girkin's arrest
Earlier today Russian media reported on the arrest of Igor Girkin. According to his wife, representatives from the Russian Investigative Committee conducted the arrest in their apartment.
She stated that Girkin is accused under Article 282 of the Russian Criminal Code (extremism). He has already been taken to court, where the prosecutor is seeking his arrest.
Andrii Yusov, a representative of Ukraine's Defense Intelligence, commented that Girkin's arrest indicates an active confrontation between the Kremlin's towers.
