Germany to allocate 10 million euros for reconstruction of Okhmatdyt
Germany will allocate 10 million euros for the restoration of the children's hospital Okhmatdyt, which was severely damaged during a recent Russian attack, according to the German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, Svenja Schulze.
The funds provided by Germany will go towards the rapid return of the hospital to operational status and preparing the building for winter conditions.
"The destruction of the children's hospital shows how ruthless and inhumane Russia's aggressive war is. Children suffer the most from this war. We must not and will not acknowledge that this place of healing for children with cancer in Ukraine no longer exists," Schulze said.
The German Ministry of Development has a close partnership with Okhmatdyt as part of German-Ukrainian cooperation in healthcare.
"We have offered the Ukrainian government help in restoring the hospital so that children can quickly receive the urgent treatment they need," the minister said.
This includes the repair and maintenance of the hospital's facades and procedure rooms, as well as electrical and heating systems.
Russian missile strike on Okhmatdyt hospital
On July 8, Russia launched a large number of missiles at Ukraine. One of the main targets of the aggressor country was Kyiv. In particular, the occupiers hit the capital's children's hospital Okhmatdyt.
As a result of the attack, there were several fatalities, and dozens of doctors and children were injured.
Sources from RBC-Ukraine reported that after this terrorist act, one of the Russian pilots turned in his colleagues to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.
