Manuela Schwesig, the German Minister-President of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, ruled out the restoration of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline. The facility was never put into operation due to Russia's war against Ukraine and the subsequent sabotage, informs n-tv.

Schwesig emphasized that Germany has a clear rule that has been in place from the very beginning. The rule stated that Nord Stream 2 will not be certified if Russia crosses the red line. According to Schwesig, Russia crossed that line by starting the war.

Minister-President Manuela Schwesig stated that Russia had significantly crossed the red line with its aggressive war against Ukraine, which threatened peace across Europe. She believed that was why, in the current era, such signals should not be sent under any circumstances.

Regarding "signals," Schwesig addressed media reports and speculations that American businessmen might rebuild the pipeline with Russia.

Notably, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is one of the federal states in northern Germany, home to the terminal where Nord Stream 2 was supposed to enter the country. The project was economically important for the region as it created jobs and brought in investments.

Specifically, Minister-President Manuela Schwesig had long supported the project because of its economic benefits for the region. However, after Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, her position changed.

Also, in 2022, the main Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 pipelines were sabotaged. This occurred in the Baltic Sea.

Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that Germany is exploring measures to prevent the restoration of Nord Stream 2. Media reports suggest that the pipelines could be restarted following the end of the war in Ukraine.
