Germany finds another drone after attack on Ukrainian aircraft

German law enforcement officials have found another drone carrying explosives, which was likely used in the attack on a Ukrainian An-124 at Leipzig/Halle Airport, according to the Süddeutsche Zeitung.
Several German media outlets report that more drones than initially reported may have been used during the failed attack on the Ukrainian plane.
According to media reports, law enforcement officials found another drone and explosive material.
The third drone was discovered on the evening of August 14 in a field near the airport, in the town of Kabelsketal.
This occurred ten days after the first drone was found.
The following day, August 15, investigators discovered a substance at the site that, according to preliminary data, could have been the remains of a hexogen-based explosive mixture. At the same time, the drone found was reportedly inoperable.
A spokesperson for the German Federal Prosecutor's Office has so far declined to comment on this information.
Attack on Ukrainian aircraft in Germany
On the night of August 5, a suspicious object was found near a Ukrainian An-124 Ruslan transport aircraft at Leipzig Airport. As a result, airport operations were temporarily suspended. It turned out to be a drone.
Against this backdrop, German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt called the incident a new level of danger for the country and an example of a hybrid threat.
Following this, German media began speculating that the Ukrainian aircraft might have been carrying ammunition, and that the drone itself had allegedly collided in mid-air with another unmanned aerial vehicle.
At the same time, Antonov Airlines refuted these claims. The company stated that the aircraft was empty at the time of the incident.
The drone struck the most vulnerable part of the Ukrainian An-124's wing—in other words, it was a deliberate and targeted attack.
German authorities have already settled on the leading theory of what happened and know exactly who could have carried out this attack.
