The general confirmed that the meeting would take place in Germany and be held virtually, as ministers had decided. He added that it would be led by the United Kingdom and Germany, as in previous Ramstein meetings.
According to him, the meeting of countries supporting Ukraine's defense is already scheduled. It will happen within the next 10 days.
What is the Ramstein format?
The Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG), known as the Ramstein format, is a coalition of more than 50 countries that have agreed to support Ukraine's defense against Russian aggression.
The group's first meeting took place on April 26, 2022, at Ramstein Air Base in Germany, from which the format derives its name. It was initiated by the United States.
Within the Ramstein framework, many decisions have been made to transfer Western weapons to Ukraine. Thanks to the group’s efforts, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have received HIMARS systems, Patriot air defense systems, Leopard 2 and Abrams battle tanks, and much more.
The previous Ramstein meeting was held on June 4. For the first time since the group's inception, no US representative attended. US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who missed the meeting, was forced to explain his absence to the media.
