Germany has allowed the Israeli military to use two armed drones, Heron TP, to carry out strikes against HAMAS militants, according to Reuters.

Previously, Germany had leased five such drones from the Israeli arms manufacturer IAI, with two of them still in Israel for training a group of pilots.

According to reports, Germany's Defense Minister Boris Pistorius approved Israel's request to use the drones on Wednesday. After the HAMAS attacks, 16 German pilots who were undergoing drone piloting training returned home.

The German Defense Ministry sources also emphasized that Israel had submitted requests for the transfer of armored vests, medical equipment, and the treatment of the wounded in German hospitals.

HAMAS attack on Israel

HAMAS militants launched an attack on Israel from the Gaza Strip on October 7. They took hostages, killed hundreds of civilians, and took control of some military facilities. By evening, the Israeli army had regained control of most of the territory.

In response, Israel declared a "state of war" and initiated the counter-terrorist operation "Operation Iron Sword." In the first two days of the conflict, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) targeted thousands of objectives in the Gaza Strip. Israeli military leadership emphasizes that this is just the beginning, as the IDF intends to dismantle HAMAS.
