The organizers of the protests in Germany, representatives of the Gen Z regelt movement, have announced their intention to continue the demonstrations in the near future, according to Tagesschau.
Gen Z regelt emphasized that they view the outcomes of the nationwide youth demonstrations positively. They also stated that they will join the next rallies, scheduled for November 20 - in three weeks' time.
"On this day, one hundred thousand people showed what they took to the streets for," said Amadeo, a spokesperson for the initiative’s press service, who publicly uses only his first name.
Actions organized by the Gen Z regelt movement were held in 34 German cities, including Berlin, Frankfurt am Main, and Munich. However, turnout was lower than the organizers had expected: they had hoped to gather at least 182,000 participants. According to eyewitness estimates, approximately half that number took to the streets.
Among the initiative's demands are increased education funding, expanded access to assistance for people with addictions and psychotherapy, counteracting the rising cost of living, ensuring social justice, and strengthening climate measures. Additionally, activists are opposing the introduction of mandatory military service and the expansion of state surveillance.
The demonstrations proceeded mostly peacefully. However, in several cities, extremist groups deliberately interfered with the course of the protests, according to preliminary estimates.
