German opposition sees possible coalition with Scholz's party, but without him
The leader of the Christian Social Union, Markus Söder, currently sees only one possible coalition partner. This is the party of the current German Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD), but there is a catch, reports t-online.
“The only real chance at this time is the SPD without Olaf Scholz,” Söder said.
At the same time, during his statement, the CSU leader showed that he was skeptical of SPD leader Christian Lindner's statements that he wanted to become federal finance minister again in the new federal government.
“I respect Christian Lindner. But he also made many mistakes in this coalition... A comeback is never out of the question. But I am skeptical about a simple continuation,” he said.
At the same time, Söder called on Scholz to bring the issue of a vote of confidence to the Bundestag in the near future.
“If the government has failed, it is necessary to immediately clear the way for new elections. Otherwise, it will seem that the chancellery is turning into a campaign center,” he concluded.
Coalition collapse in Germany
Earlier this week, the ruling coalition in Germany collapsed. This happened after Scholz decided to dismiss Finance Minister Christian Lindner, a representative of the Free Democratic Party (FDP).
After Lindner, all ministers from the FDP were dismissed. Yesterday, on November 8, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier handed them their dismissal certificates.
