General Staff refutes reports of Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi's dismissal

Rumors about the alleged dismissal of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine General Oleksandr Syrskyi quickly spread online, but Ukraine's military leadership has denied the reports, according to a statement from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"The information circulating in the information space, including on social media and in certain media outlets, regarding the alleged dismissal of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine General Oleksandr Syrskyi is not true," the General Staff said.
The General Staff also stressed that General Oleksandr Syrskyi continues to serve as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Lieutenant General Andrii Hnatov also remains in his position and continues to perform his official duties.
The General Staff reminded that the dismissal of the Commander-in-Chief and the Chief of the General Staff can only take place on the basis of a decree issued by the President of Ukraine.
Earlier, the Financial Times, citing sources, reported that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was allegedly considering the dismissal of Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi.
According to the sources, such a decision would only be possible if a suitable candidate could be found to ensure continuity of military command and maintain Ukraine's defense efforts on the front line.
