Bloating can cause acute pain that may sometimes be accompanied by sweating. Adding certain foods to your diet can help alleviate the condition, according to Ukrainian gastroenterologist Yevheniia Belinska.

Ginger

According to the expert, ginger contains active compounds such as gingerol and shogaol, which stimulate the secretion of gastric juice and bile.
Additionally, ginger has anti-nausea, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties. It also has a carminative effect, meaning it helps expel gas.

Pineapple

The fruit contains bromelain, which aids in protein breakdown. Its high water and fiber content positively affect intestinal motility.

Mint tea

This tea has antispasmodic properties for the gastrointestinal tract. The menthol in the tea improves intestinal peristalsis.

Yogurt and other fermented dairy products

These can have both positive and negative effects on bloating. On one hand, they are excellent sources of probiotics. On the other hand, the lactose, sweeteners, or excessive consumption of these products may have adverse effects.

Bananas

Due to their high potassium content, bananas help eliminate excess fluid. They also contain mucus-like substances with a protective coating effect.
It is important to limit consumption to 1–2 bananas per day.

Papaya

Papaya contains the enzyme papain, which aids in breaking down proteins into amino acids and improves peristalsis.
However, people allergic to latex should consume papaya cautiously, as unripe fruits may contain latex-like compounds. The fruit is also not recommended for pregnant women due to its effect on the smooth muscles of the uterus.

Ginger, pineapple, and papaya should be avoided by individuals with stomach ulcers. These products should also be consumed with caution by those with GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease) or specific sensitivities.

Mint tea is not always suitable for patients with GERD, as it can further relax the lower esophageal sphincter.
