French Foreign Ministry calls on Israel and Iran to refrain from escalation
On the night of October 26, Israel retaliated against Iran for the attack it carried out on October 1. France, in turn, called on the parties to refrain from escalation.
“France calls on the parties to refrain from any escalation and actions that could worsen the situation of extreme tension prevailing in the region,” the statement of the French Foreign Ministry said.
The Foreign Ministry also noted that France had taken note of Israel's statement about strikes on military targets in Iran last night in response to the October 1 aggression.
To recap, today Iran threatened to respond to Israel's October 26 attack. Tehran believes it has the right to do so.
“Based on its inalienable right to legitimate defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter, the Islamic Republic of Iran considers itself capable and obliged to defend itself against foreign acts of aggression,” the Iranian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
