France supports Ukraine's victory plan in the war against Russia. Paris is prepared to continue assisting Ukraine, according to French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot during a press conference with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.
"We support the victory plan because we have been alongside Ukraine for a thousand days of war, making the necessary efforts," said the minister.
He emphasized that France supports the Ukrainian plan not only in the military sphere but is also ready to provide assistance in civil and economic areas. Barrot added that France stands by Ukraine when it decides to initiate peace negotiations.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stressed that France supports the victory plan and actively promotes it.
"We had a one-on-one conversation where the foreign minister and I exchanged thoughts on additional steps for the practical implementation of President Zelensky's victory plan. The minister also informed me about the outcomes of the recent 'Quartet' meeting held in Germany. Further implementation, realization, and enrichment of the victory plan were among the main topics discussed," Sybiha stated.
Ukraine's victory plan
On October 17, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented Ukraine's victory plan in Brussels. According to the president, most EU leaders supported the plan.
However, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated after the EU Council meeting that he does not support key points of the Ukrainian plan due to concerns about escalation.
Ahead of his visit to Europe, the president also presented the victory plan in the Verkhovna Rada. The plan consists of five points and three confidential annexes. It also includes a prompt invitation for Ukraine to join NATO.
