France and Czechia understand risks tied to possible Russian victory - Pavel
France and Czechia are aware of the risks associated with the potential success of Russia in the war against Ukraine. Therefore, the expansion of the European Union is considered a crucial step, says the President of Czechia, Petr Pavel.
Today, Pavel held a meeting with the President of France, Emmanuel Macron. According to him, they discussed the war in Ukraine.
"We share with France the view that we must continue to support Ukraine because we see no other and better alternative. If Ukraine wants to withstand the pressure from Russia, we must help it more and, if possible, faster," Pavel said.
Pavel also stated that Europe lacks some essential capabilities to protect its interests and defend against aggressors, including intelligence or strategic logistics.
"Europe has reconciled itself with its development over the past decades," the president said.
EU needs to expand
Separately, he stated that France and Czechia are aware of the risks associated with the possible success of Russia in the war with Ukraine.
"As a result of Putin's aggression, we have formed a very close opinion about the importance of expanding the European Union by including other countries. I also appreciate the agreement regarding the support for Ukraine," the President of Czechia said.
Other statements by Pavel on the war in Ukraine
Earlier, the President of Czechia, Petr Pavel, stated that Russia could fully restore its combat readiness within six years.
Pavel also mentioned that the current situation on the battlefield does not indicate that Ukraine can gain a military advantage, and time currently favors Russia.
