Four hair-washing tips to prevent hair loss
Hair loss after bathing can be concerning, but one expert has shared a solution that might fix everything, according to The Sun.
How to prevent hair loss
Hair extension expert from London Louise Bailey shared four steps to keep your hair intact and prevent damage, starting with washing.
Hard water in the shower can cause hair loss due to its mineral content. Over time, this buildup clogs the follicles on your scalp, leading to excessive hair loss.
"Ensure you wash your hair with clarifying shampoos to remove mineral and other hair product buildup," she said.
If you can’t access a clarifying shampoo, choose a sulfate-free one to minimize damage.
Louise also explained the most effective way to wash your hair to maintain its integrity.
"Gently rinse your hair, then apply a protective oil designed for your hair type to your hair and scalp and leave for 30 minutes before washing," she advises.
Louise shared a special rinsing technique to cleanse the hair thoroughly.
"After 30 minutes, gently rinse the oil and massage the clarifying shampoo thoroughly into the scalp and hair, to ensure that any leftover residue is lifted," she said.
For the third step, she recommended her method for conditioning hair.
"Rinse and apply your conditioner, avoiding the scalp and the upper half of the hair strands," the expert clarified.
She also recommended investing in a water filter or showerhead to soften the water.
Soft water lacks harsh mineral buildup, allowing hair care products to penetrate the scalp and hair better. Using the right products can make a noticeable difference in your hair.
