They voluntarily chose to help Ukraine defend itself against Russian forces. The International Legion expressed its condolences to the families and friends of the fallen fighters.

Media reports

Reports about the death of Corey Navrotsky — a retired US Marine Corps sergeant — appeared in Western media as early as November 2024.

Journalists claimed that the American veteran with 20 years of service was killed while attempting to enter Russia’s Bryansk region. The group of four fighters, which included Navrotsky, was allegedly killed by Russia’s FSB soldiers.

Russian propaganda, in publications about the killing of the four foreign fighters, claimed that this "proves the participation of regular NATO soldiers" in the war.

At the same time, Russian sources wrote that Bradley Janison was also a US Army veteran.

Death of a British serviceman in Ukraine

It should be recalled that on December 9, a member of the United Kingdom’s Armed Forces was killed in Ukraine as a result of a tragic accident. The incident occurred while Ukrainian soldiers were observing tests of a new defense system.
