The undisputed heavyweight world champion Oleksandr Usyk has reached the pinnacle of global boxing. According to the former manager of the Klitschko brothers, Bernd Boente, the Ukrainian boxer should consider the next steps in his career, World Boxing News reports.

He has already achieved everything

In a comment to World Boxing News, expert and former head of the Klitschko Management Group, Bernd Boente, stated that Usyk has reached the maximum in his sport and could follow the example of legends.

"I would like to see the great person and champion Oleksandr Usyk retire as reigning champion, like Rocky Marciano, Lennox Lewis, and Vitali Klitschko before him. He could even be the second heavyweight champion after Marciano to retire undefeated," Boente said.

In his opinion, ending his career at the top would symbolize Usyk's greatness and serve as an example for future generations of boxers.

A similar view is shared by former world champion Lennox Lewis, who also advised the Ukrainian to leave boxing while still holding the title.

The Briton added that Usyk has already proven everything necessary and can now pass on his knowledge to the younger generation of athletes.

Usyk's achievements

In his most recent fight, where he knocked out Daniel Dubois and regained the IBF title, Usyk achieved one of the greatest successes of his career, both athletically and commercially.

"Usyk delivered a terrific performance against Dubois. A sold-out Wembley Stadium and excellent PPV sales suggest that the rematch, after Dubois' sensational KO victory over Anthony Joshua, was a complete commercial success,” Boente emphasized.

According to the expert, the Ukrainian has already secured his place among the best heavyweights of all time. In Boente's personal ranking, Usyk is seventh after Muhammad Ali, Joe Louis, Lennox Lewis, Rocky Marciano, George Foreman, and Evander Holyfield.

Retire as reigning champion

"He has already achieved everything. The right path now is to retire while still at the top. That's how true champions like Marciano, Lewis, and Vitali did it—and that's the mark of a legacy that will last forever," Boente concluded.

It is worth recalling that after defeating Daniel Dubois, Oleksandr Usyk became the undisputed heavyweight world champion for the second time. Previously, he had also won all four major heavyweight titles, becoming the first to do so in the four-belt era.
