Foreign troops in Ukraine will be legitimate targets - Russian MFA Chief

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Sergey Lavrov, cynically threatened Western countries in case of any deployment of foreign troops in Ukraine. He stated that such a contingent "will become a legitimate target for the Russian army, " according to Russian media.
According to Lavrov, such troops would automatically allegedly become a legitimate target for the Russian Armed Forces, and their presence in the country would mean the actual "occupation" of Ukraine by the West.
"The flag of peacekeepers will also not be considered by Russia," added the head of the Russian MFA.
"If any part of Ukraine becomes a territory where so-called peacekeepers are deployed, and for this part of Ukraine Western security guarantees, aimed against the Russian Federation, apply, this will mean only one thing: that the West has occupied, I repeat, Ukraine," claims the Russian minister.
In Russia, it has been repeatedly stated that foreign troops in Ukraine will become a "legitimate target for the Russian army."
For example, a few days ago, this was stated by the Ambassador for Special Assignments of the Russian MFA Rodion Miroshnik.
"Such things even require feedback from the Russian president, when he says that a foreign contingent is unacceptable on the territory of Ukraine. This will be simply, firstly, unnecessary. That is, they are not needed, practically they have no functionality there. And secondly, they are completely legitimate military targets," he emphasized.
Foreign contingent in Ukraine
Recall that within the framework of security guarantees, allies are considering the introduction of foreign troops in Ukraine, but this will become possible only after a peace agreement.
Several countries are ready to send their military to Ukraine, as recently stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The head of state did not disclose details, as, according to him, this issue is still being worked out.
However, Zelenskyy confirmed regarding the presence of a foreign troops that "it will definitely not be in the hundreds, but in the thousands."
Also, the day before, the president reported that security guarantees for Ukraine are almost ready.
