Women with medical or pharmaceutical education must register for military service starting from October 1, 2023. They will acquire the status of conscripts, with restrictions on foreign travel.

This was told in a comment to RBC-Ukraine by Fedir Venislavskyi, a member of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence, and the President's representative in the Parliament.

The MP reminded that last year, the Verkhovna Rada made amendments to Article 1 of the Law of Ukraine On Mobilization Training and Mobilization, stipulating that women with medical or pharmaceutical education must be subject to compulsory military registration.

According to him, to implement this law, the Cabinet of Ministers issued a resolution on the procedure for military registration, and the Ministry of Defense issued an order on the military registration of women. According to this order, starting from October 1, women with medical or pharmaceutical education must mandatorily register for military service.

"If they are on the registry, they acquire the status of conscripts. Conscripts travel abroad in the manner established for them. That is if there are specific documents that grant the right to temporary travel - then yes, they can go. If not, then they, like men, will be banned from traveling," Venislavskyi noted.

The MP also added that all other women with military-related specialties can voluntarily register starting from the same date.

"As for expanding the list of specialties for women who must register, there are no plans for it at the moment," he said.

Military registration for women

In October 2022, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a law on the voluntary military registration of women. Women with a specialty or profession related to medical activity are obliged to register as conscripts.

As stated by the President's representative in the Rada, Fedir Venislavskyi, women with a medical or pharmaceutical specialty are subject to mandatory military registration. Starting from October 1, such women must report to the Territorial Centers of Recruitment and undergo all necessary procedures.
