The US interest in Ukraine's rare earth metals and other natural resources represents a shared strategic interest for both countries. This is also one of the points of the victory plan, RBC-Ukraine reports, citing the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha during a joint press conference with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy.

Commenting on US President Donald Trump's statement regarding Ukrainian metals, Sybiha emphasized the implementation of the "peace through strength" concept. According to him, this approach "is being filled with concrete actions, projects, and decisions."

"Through concrete steps to strengthen our defense capabilities now. Through decisive actions to accelerate the supply of necessary defense equipment to Ukraine. Without delays. Right now. In order to stabilize the situation on the front line," the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine said.

Sybiha reminded that Ukraine's victory plan also includes a point concerning the country's vast natural resources. He highlighted opportunities for partners to invest and jointly develop these resources, underlining the shared strategic interest.

"This is one of the tangible implementations of the 'peace through strength' concept. It is also an element of securing the presence of major businesses, the interests of our closest allies - the United States - in the development and protection of such deposits," Sybiha stated.

Trump's statement on metals

Recently, President Donald Trump announced that Washington is interested in Ukraine's rare earth metals. Trump indicated that the US would be open to a deal with Ukraine involving rare earth metals and other resources in exchange for the supply of weapons.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded by stating that Ukraine is open to US proposals.

Rare earth metals are a group of 17 elements found in small quantities in nature and are essential for producing electronics, aerospace technology, and medical equipment. Ukraine has significant reserves of graphite, uranium, titanium, and lithium, which are of strategic importance.
